T
he Lego Gherkin, sitting just outside the real Gherkin, unfortunately I wasn’t able to see the views, this time, but I loved the idea of the effort that went into the model version.
I was curious about it the Mini-Gherkin and discover that it is part of an exhibition “The Art of the Brick” is at The Old Truman Brewery from 26th September to 4th January 2015. It features 80 art sculptures created from more than than a million lego bricks by US artist Nathan Sawaya.
“I like using LEGO bricks as a medium because I enjoy seeing people’s reaction to artwork created from something with which they are familiar. …My goal is to elevate this simple plaything to a place it has never been before. I also appreciate the cleanliness of the LEGO® brick. The right angles. The distinct lines. But, from a distance, those right angles and distinct lines offer new perspectives, changing to curves.”
Nathan Sawaya
No matter what instrument you are using to communicate your talent, for some LEGO® is a game for kids, for others a real little pieces of art. Share with others your brilliant ideas by making them happen!
